New in the forums and haven't seen this topic around, so I figured I'd ask.

I'm working on ripping some models from some xbox games to eventually be used as papercraft projects and I was planning on just outputting the video directly to my laptop and then trying to use 3dripperx to get the necessary model inputs and textures.

Besides the av to comp adapter cable, is there anything else I would need to do (like mod the box) in order to get this to work out, as using xbox emulators isn't an option and I don't see any other way to do it, as of now.

I've seen a friend run his xbox through his laptop before and I believe he just had the wire adapter, and I would ask him but for him disappearing off the face of the planet.

Any advice or help would be appreciated, though, even if I get this to work, I can't guarantee the end result of the whole project will be a success.

Actually, there are add-in cards for your computer/laptop that will allow you to plug in composite cables. A TV Tuner card might be what you're wanting.

@Straycatstrat That's a bit over what I was looking into lol but thanks for the quick response and info.

I was thinking about something along the lines of the Easy Cap hookup or the simple AV to PC adapter, as my laptop already has the dual monitor ability with the built in vid card but I just wanted to be sure this was a feasible option.

Also, after doing some more specific youtube research, I've found a couple videos doing almost exactly what I'm talking about.

S video hookup:

AV hookup:

Still not 100% on the software aspects but that's for another board.
Thanks for pointing me in a good direction Stray.

I know the exact thing...or similar to it, that may even have better quality and may be faster. I didn't watch the entire first video, just a little bit to see what you're wanting.

This is similar to what he used in it:

And just more options for ya:

If you tend to play through a capture-card, you will have to get a SAA7134 based tv-tuner if you want to play with no input-lag. It sucks to play via capture-card.
