Well, there is a really buggy program to allow you to play music from the f drive on games, but I couldn't get it to work.
If you load the music on to your HD via inserting disc and ripping (the nonmodded way) that allows for the music to play in Tony hawk 2x. I would assume that would be how for gta

You can either use wavs or WMA formats. I can't FTP at all nor do I have any CDrs to burn. So what I do is convert all mp3s to the other format like wma or wav on computer. Open up Xplorer360 for the usb 1g and and transfer the files over. Then I take the connecion over to the Xbox and paste them exactly in the MS dash audio folder in E:/tdata/fffe0000. I use UnleashX dash. *if you get in error of the usb not being formatted (which really it is, cause in the MS Dash storage it will show up) then just quickly go into XBMC and get out of there back to UnleashX. O stay in XBMC and do this.

What I do from there is get the file names of the orginale audio files I will replace with the new ones and delete the files. Rename the new ones with old files names. And thats it. I hope I helped otherswith this solution.
