Guys.....can sm1 give a well detailed way of programming ur xbox to play another game without having to stand up to push the power button.
u can imagine if u get tired of playin a certain game u will need to get up to switch off ur box......thanks in advance

Some people seem to say that this works "hold top 2 triggers & the start and select button" but some say it may be a per-game thing and doesn't work will them all. Not home so I can't try it.

hey ..you could try ingame reset...hold both triggers,black button and the back button all at once...or rather hit all at once...should reset your game and back to as if u hit power button....let us know what happens

If IGR (In-Game Reset) is enabled through the Dashboard and also in the BIOS (Yes, it has to be enabled here aswell), then while in-game, just press: Left Trigger + Right Trigger + Select + Start, and it will jump back to the dashboard. If you have EvoX dashboard, download EvoX_M8.bin and EVTool. Open up EVTool and open the .BIN file. In the top-right corner, select "Quick" instead of compatibility mode. Whilre you're still in the Tool, you can change color of the Xbox startup, or simply turn it of for the Xbox to boot faster. If your current Bios is for example 512KB, and the BIOS file is 256KB, while in the Tool, select "Resize" and then select 512KB. Then save the bios file. Upload it to C:\Bios. Now we need to activate BIOS flash on the EvoX dashboard. You do this by adding this little menu to EvoX.ini:

Item "Flash BIOS",ID_Flash_Bios
Item "Backup",ID_Backup
Item "Skins",ID_Skins
}

Look at the structure in the file, and you'll understand how to install that extra menu. Once you've done that, upload EvoX.ini to C:\, and reboot Xbox. Now, goto System > Flash Bios - Now select EvoX_M8, and then Press Y, it will now flash the bios, and then turn itself of. EvoX should now boot, and you should be able to reset to dashboard (IGR).

Remember, it's important that you know your current bios file size. If its 512KB, select Resize 512KB on EVTool. If it's 1024KB (1MB). select Resize 1MB on EVTool. Good luck.

yeah thnks all,i tried the'hold both triggers,black button and the back button' and it worked for sm times but after some few games it does nt take me back to the evox dashboard but to the microsoft dashboard giving me error 05..........i am yet to try wersq method.....thanks for the reply though

Intudip, take it easy while flashing bios. If you have Xbox 1.0 - 1.5, use EvoX_M8.bin. If you're on a Xbox 1.6, use EvoX_M8_16.bin. And remember to check what size your current bios have. You can check this with "bioscheck".

Ya know, once i thought i saw a setting somewhere for "in game reset" but i'll be damned if i can find it again....

Is it under the MS dashboard maybe ?

It's been so long since i have been there i may check it out, because it would be nice to be able to reset without turning off the machine and waiting for it to load again to play a different game!!

That's means i'd have to get out of my recliner and walk 4 feet to my xbox!!

you dont need to flash the bios for ingame reset, just use evox, unleashx, or xbmc. enable the option in the settings and you can leave your bios alone. if a disc is in the drive it wont jump to dash, itll boot the disc.

That is correct. If you installed Evox or UnleashX with you mod then you can do an ingame restart by press L+R+START+BACK. When no disc is in the DVD drive it will boot back to your default dashboard otherwise to game disc.

Why are so many of you wrong about the IGR?

Johnscrub had it right when he told you (L) + (R) + Back + Black.

THAT IS THE ONLY BUTTONS THAT RESET. it doesn't work with any other combo of buttons. Especially L + R + Start + Select. First of all there is no "select" button on a Xbox controller. Secondly if you said this but meant the Back button, It will not work if you are trying the start button in place of the Black button.

THE ONLY WAY IS... L + R + Back + Black.

Well i've been playing for a while now on my softmodded XBOX and have ALWAYS used L+R+START+BACK to reset and IT WORKS!!!

Maybe every dash or installer uses a different combination but the one i described works for me.

Lol i checked it out and i can actually reset the XBOX with 3 combinations

Combination 1:
L+R+START+BACK

Combination 2:
L+R+START+BLACK

Combination 3:
L+R+BACK+BLACK

All works

So where exactly do you enable "in game reset" ?

I have looked everywhere and i don't see the option.

and none of those button combos work for me but i am guessing it is because i don't have it enabled yet.

Chaosmountain ..the only place ive ever seen that option is on evolution dashboard..under system management>system settings>misc>last opyion on top of exit>>> hope that helps...i use xbmc and never had to enable that i dont know why?i have removed the softmod severals time and not once have i checked that option...any other dash i couldnt ttell you where to look but im sure it would be a very similair area

xbmc can be a little funny sometimes if you use peculiar skins. (skins that were not designed by someone who knows xbmc well enough) some versions of xbmc might not even show the igr option. there are several combos for igr; and it depends on what bios you are using as well as dash and other game booting options as well as xbe editors. since my ms bios is untouched, if i boot straight into a game there is no igr. but if i use my unleashx or xbmc the only option i am currently aware of for igr is left trigger+right trigger+black+back. referring to back as select is ok since everyone knows what you mean, especially old school gamers. the 50megs.com option looks interesting, but without being sure what the yellow wire is used for you can't guarantee you won't cause damage in the long run. (im still gonna try that out) that is the yellow wire they are grounding, correct? sorry i don't use evolution, i use unleashx dash, and then xbmc for trainers, apart from that i can't think of any reason to use evolution. unless it really does have bios flashing nonsense. but id avoid that since if you don't know what you're doing a bad flash means a dead xbox. and unless you know how to fix that, you're gonna have to buy a new one.
about that yellow wire though, i couldn't get it to power anything and its allegedly 12v, go ahead and make the mem card switch if you want, i couldn't get that yellow wire to do beans, if it makes a good reset switch, go for it.

another thing about resetting, resetting too many times, or resetting after using trainers, can mean trouble. a hard reset, or full shutdown and boot up, can be good sometimes. resetting too often can upset the xbox i guess. it'll get all emotional and won't want to work for you anymore. nobody knows why, probably a hdd issue.

as for trainers, trainers force a bit of code into the xbox memory, where that can be good and mean infinite ammo in one game, it can be bad to another program or game and magically code out for something like.... overwrite every bit of data on one partition with useless junk or a repeating string of code or something.

some trainers go away after a reset though.
still, every now and then do a full shutdown, it only has to be for a few seconds, and it can save you from some BIG trouble. though that 50megs.com idea looks like it makes hard resets obsolete if my computer knowledge is right on. still, those vicious computer goblins are always looking for some electronics to b***-***k.

The only problem i often have is that when i select a game from the list it tries to launch the game but leaves me with a black screen doing nothing. Then i have to get up because the IGR doesn't work when it's locked up like this. So i power the XBOX down and back on. Then launch the game again and the second time it always have worked so far. I dunno why it sometimes gives me this black screen while trying to launch an app.

Actually, i think it mostly happens after playing one game first then do IGR and try to launch a different game from XBMC. The first game i launch after booting up XBMC has always worked as far as i remember. Maybe it could also be an issue of running but NTSC and PAL games mixed all the time. I have no clue

interesting. try creating that mem card switch. i try to avoid pal games since im ntsc, so i don't think id be able to help you with region switching. make sure all games are being displayed using the region of your xbox and tv. im not going to tell you to avoid games of other regions since i know some games are created for another region than the one in which you live and are irresistible. as long as you make sure to tell it to display the game using the same region as your xbox and tv everything should go fine. if youre pal then you want pal(50hz) every time. and if youre ntsc then you want ntsc(60hz) every time. i cant remember if there are other variables to the display settings...

i could never get the memory card reset button to work...fried a memory casrd so i give up...i did however get a reset button put into my main controller which is just about as good

the yellow wire is used for light guns, its allegedly directly connected to the xbox's composite video.

yes i read that article and several others very similair..i fried it by my own stupidity...i think i used a article in that wiki to do my controiller mod...i was using a madcat knock off card maybe why

sorry to hear that. but, you can still take that dead mem card and make a switch or take the chip out and put a usb port in there. or both! remember, the switch uses the two wires that are seperated from the other three in the mem card connector, the usb port uses the other three seperated and the far side pin BUT NOT THE PIN IN THE TWO PIN SLOT THATS CLOSEST TO THE CENTER, thats the yellow wire.

so: (ground-yellow)-(green-white-red)...
see what i mean?
ground+green+white+red make a usb, ground+yellow make a reset switch. if you did it on the opposite side you connected the data negative to the 5volt line if i got that mem card map out right. the mem card might not be baked, undo the connection and see if the ms dash can reformat the card.
