The ps1 is ported the xbox so I really dont see why the dreamcast isnt. Didnt they both share similar hardware and processing power?

Dreamcast.

Polygons: 3 million per second
Game Media: 1.2GB GD-ROM, 12x access speed

Sound: Yamaha 64 channel
Operating System: Custom Windows CE with DirectX support*
Modem: 56Kbps (US/JP NTSC), 33.3Kbps (PAL)

Ps1.
CPU: 32-bit RISC (33.9MHz)
RAM: 2MB, 1MB Video RAM
Graphics: 3D Geometry Engine, with 2D rotation, scaling, transparency and fading and 3D texture mapping and shading
Colors: 16.7 million
Sprites: 4,000
Polygons: 360,000 per second
Resolution: 640x480

I think you just answered your own question darkweezil:
"Didnt they both share similar hardware and processing power?"

First, let's look at the specifications that you post on there. It looks like the Dreamcast is more powerful. The Dreamcast (if your specs are correct) has a processor that is a little over 6 times. 8 times the RAM, 8 times the video memory, etc, etc.

Second, the XBox has a 433 MHz CPU, 64 MB RAM. Sadly, the XBox is not powerful enough to emulate the Dreamcast.

Straycatstrat - Wrong. It's actually 733 Maybe it'll emulate good on my 1.4GHz/128MB RAM Xbox, but i doubt it.

Lol, my bad, I got my older computer specifications mixed up! But, the point still resides that the Xbox isn't powerful enough.

Not sure about a Saturn...

I think a Saturn emulator would be out as well - its one of the most convoluted consoles ever! I think there were working dreamcast emulators before a playable Saturn emulator was actually working - and you needed a mighty powerful PC to do it!

Yeah, i don't see why emulating Saturn would be a problem. But there aren't any Saturn emulators, correct?

well, the problem with emulating saturn is simply how it is designed. Not too tech savy myself, but i think it has 9 processors if i remember right.
And there is Yabuse, but it runs slow on everything

Won't happen. When emulating another system, the said system that is emulating it needs to be considerably more powerful.

Yeah, the saturn had lots of processors - some of which were bolted on after Sega saw the specs for the original playstation, so I highly doubt any console will have saturn emulation for a long time! (unless Sega finally rejoin the hardware race and make a console that plays all their previous games? no? oh well )

The long and short of it, because no one can be arsed atm. The xbox can potentially emulate the dreamcast but probably not at stable framerates. Also in regards the sega saturn emulator even on a pc it's hard to get one of them running properly so it's probably not going to happen on the xbox, unless if someone spends months on end optimizing.

I would have to agree with you on that one. The Saturn is a pain alone.

Just remember new things are always coming. The Dreamcast was my favorite system, so I still have it, but I think to run it on the xbox would be really cool.

Dreamcast on xbox will happen eventually. Just wait on someone with enough free time to get it done

once you have a perfectly dumped bios for a console it all depends on what you can do with it and on what . i 150 percent believe you can emulate these systems on a xbox. 1 Sega Saturn ... 2 A $ony Psp 3 A ps2 ---there is even a emulator that is fully working if i can recall a conversation with my friend he said there is a possibility that the Virtualboy can do it too
