I know it may seem like a very stupid question but have you tried using a different AV lead? There may be degradation in the wire or a short somewhere causing bad images.

Only other reasons I can think is possibly the modification chip has damaged the system (Pretty common problem I've heard of for PSOnes) or maybe the port for AV cable has been damaged slightly on the "motherboard" due to a drop or yank of the AV cable.

A video of the console in action taken with your phone or something would help a little to see if it is interference, lack of signal power, damaged circuit or chip damage etc.

But would recommend trying a different AV cable first =)

It takes me hours to rip, test, compress and upload games but it only takes a second to click the thanks button so don't forget to say thanks =)

I just read the description of the video does this only happen after 10mins or so of playing? or is it instantly?

Did you try a different AV cable by the way?

If it's happening after 10mins of being on then it's unlikely to be an AV problem but more likely an overheating or chip problem. Try opening up your PSOne and see if it's filled with dust blow it out gently if so, and while it's open check closely for any warping or ports looking like they have come loose.

Keep me posted we'll get this fixed =)

Can't see where that piece is from but it's never a good thing for parts to fall out of your playstation =O

Looked very clean to me so we can cross out dust clogging fans or power supply and causing overheating as the problem.

So the following are still left to cross off the list:

1) Faulty AV/SCART cable
2) Loose AV/SCART port on back of PSOne
3) That small black piece that fell out is causing an issue?
4) Modification chip has become faulty

So let's cross these off:

1) Try a different AV/SCART cable and wait 10-15mins to see if you still get the bad picture results. (I think just a normal Playstation cable fits the PSOne)

2) When you put the AV/SCART cable into the back of the PSOne see if it wiggles at all (do this gently just to see if it appears loose)

3) Try and see if you can spot where the black piece has come from if it is easy enough superglue it back in place.

4) For a damaged chip there's nothing we can do apart from replace it or possibly check its wire to see if any have come loose if so it may just need re-soldering.

Try these steps and let me know how it goes, good luck mate!

Would be cheaper to buy another one off ebay than send it somewhere and pay postage and fixing fees =(

I just got a chipped psone and a chipped ps2 slim off ebay for £35 (roughly $50) for my spare room search terms I used to find them...

Special playstation
Chipped playstation
Modified playstation
Chipped PS1

Tick the "Include description" box if that fails just search for playstation 1 and read descriptions on a few Im sure you'll find one.

If I lived near you I'd fix it for you but you're over the pond so I would recommend ebay =)

Good luck!
