XDSL- Xbox Damn Small Linux 0.6 This is a zip file containing X-DSL; If you are not familiar with X-DSL it is a Linux distribution for the Xbox console console based on Damn Small Linux which is a Knoppix based distribution, furthermore Knoppix is a Debian based distribution. This distribution takes advantage of Debians .deb packages as well as its legendary aptitude package handling system and ports. This is the smallest fully functioning Linux distribution at 45.7MB this installation includes an X window system which is a full graphical user interface. XDSL comes equipped with Xpadder and an on screen keyboard for navigation. This means your controller is a fully functioning mouse and keyboard. XDSL is simplified for users not familiar with Linux but is also a fully functioning distribution for advanced users including SSH as well as a light-weight Apache alternative web page hosting solution which allows you to turn your Xbox into a fully functioning Linux web server. Installation: THIS PACKAGE IS NOT INTENDED TO BE BURNED TO DISC. FTP to your xbox using filezillla or your favorite FTP client. Create the directory E:/Knoppix Extract linux24, minirt24.gz and the KNOPPIX file (found in the KNOPPIX subdirectory) from the zip file and copy them into this directory. E:\\\\KNOPPIX\\\\KNOPPIX E:\\\\KNOPPIX\\\\linux24 E:\\\\KNOPPIX\\\\minirt24.gz There should be no subdirectories in E:\\\\KNOPPIX. The filenames are case sensitive. Now rename linuxboot.cfg_for_frugal_install to linuxboot.cfg and place in E: E:\\\\linuxboot.cfg should now have the following content: title XDSL kernel KNOPPIX/linux24 initrd KNOPPIX/minirt24.gz append root=/dev/ram0 init=/etc/init rw video=xbox:640x480 frugal quiet kbd-reset All documentation is included with the package. Various installation methods do apply. A frugal install is recommended. You will not nuke your drive. This distribution is completely safe. | Something that might want to be added: You'll have to rename the "minirt24" file to "minirt24.gz", and you'll have to copy the xdsl folder to your Xbox. I'm going to guess you can copy it where you would like, but the KNOPPIX folder MUST be on E. | ||
